The England international has just two Carabao Cup appearances to his name since being replaced by Raya. The Spaniard completed a season-long loan move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer with Arsenal having an option to make the switch permanent next summer.
Raya began his Gunners career in impressive form with a number of clean sheets and a superb save in the North London Derby against Tottenham, however in that same match mistakes began to creep into his game. A flapping punch from Raya led directly to Son Heung-min scoring the equaliser with a number of errors leading to goals made in the last few weeks.
Ramsdale has also been provided with chances to prove himself to Arteta with a superb display against Brentford in the EFL Cup which included securing a clean sheet, however that was somewhat undone in the following round's defeat to West Ham.
With the January transfer window edging closer with each passing day, Ramsdale has been urged to consider his future and potentially leave Arsenal mid-season. Former Gunners midfielder Jermaine Pennant told King Casino Bonus: "I can't say I recall seeing two 'keepers fighting for the right to start, there was always a designated number one and number two in my day."The number one would start in the league, and the second-choice started in the cup games. They knew their role and it never upset the balance of the squad.
"It's a bit baffling to see the situation at Arsenal. It's like upsetting the apple cart! Ramsdale was gone from a nailed-on starter to looking at his future!"He'll want to play regular football. It's an interesting one, and I don't know how Mikel is managing it. It's strange from the outside. If Ramsdale isn't getting the minutes, he'll want to look elsewhere.
"I think Arsenal are better after their summer business. Declan has been great and he was the biggest signing. Everybody questioned the David Raya decision, but I think he's better than Ramsdale, not to take anything away from Aaron.
"Jurrien Timber looked like a good signing, but he had a horrible injury. His return will give them a boost, though. We'll put the Havertz singing under the rug for now!"
