Arsenal handed Martin Odegaard major injury boost ahead of Brentford clash

Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash against Brentford, with Martin Odegaard spotted in training. The Norway international missed his side's 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United earlier this month after taking a ball to the face during a training session in the lead-up to the loss on Tyneside.

Odegaard failed a fitness test ahead of the loss against the Magpies after being checked over for concussion before missing subsequent games against Sevilla and Burnley due to a hip problem. As a result, he didn't join up with the Norwegian national team as he continues to recover and there is a hope that a rare rest for Odegaard should help clear up his hip issue ahead of this weekend's action.

Pictures released by Arsenal show that the former Real Madrid playmaker took part in the club's training session at London Colney on Tuesday, a huge boost for manager Mikel Arteta and Co. Going into Saturday's visit to the Gtech Community Stadium, the Gunners sit third in the Premier League standings, one point behind league leaders Manchester City.

The trip to west London will likely see Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale back in the starting line-up considering fellow keeper David Raya can't play against the Bees, who he is on loan from, due to Premier League rules. Raya has displaced Ramsdale in Arteta's starting XI recently, with Gunners icon David Seaman now claiming that the latter is too good to be a backup.

"If he's not playing [for Arsenal], it's going to affect his [England] chances," Seaman BBC Radio 5 Live. "Going into next summer, where Aaron is really pushing to become England goalkeeper - he needs to be playing."

He added: "If Aaron goes in at the weekend, then he's left out for the next game, then we know who Mikel's No.1 is. It's not good for Aaron.

"He's a top-class goalkeeper, there's no doubt about that."
