Arsenal news - Mikel Arteta issues Bukayo Saka message as VAR decision deemed correct

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has surprised many with his comments surrounding Bukayo Saka's treatment as Gabriel Martinelli demands dinner from the England international

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will approach Saturday's game against Burnley with a tad more confidence after his side avoided three successive defeats.

The Gunners welcome Sevilla to the Emirates on Wendesday night following back-to-back losses against West Ham and Newcastle respectively. The stakes were high to ensure cthat slump didn't continue and Arsenal's stars stepped up, winning 2-0 against the La Liga outfit.

The game was not without its headaches for Arteta though, as goalscorer and star-man Bukayo Saka hobbled out of action with an injury shortly before the full-time whistle was blown. However, the Arsenal manager was not particularly sympathic towards his winger.

With that being said, here are some of the main headlines emerging out of the Emirates on Friday, November 10.

Arteta tells Saka to get used to rough treatmentThe Arsenal boss was forced to watch anxiously as Saka limped round the side of the Emirates with an injury but offered up an interesting reply following the game. Asked if his No.7 was born ready for brutal challenges, Arteta replied: "Born? I think he's getting used to it!

"I don't think that's going to change, especially with the way he plays and the way he attracts players so he better get used to it because I don't think it's going to change.

"There's contact in football and obviously for the wingers who want to take people on this is going to happen. At the end he wasn't comfortable to carry on, hopefully it's not too much but I'm really pleased with his performance."

Arteta also issued an update on whether Saka will be fit to feature against Burnley on Saturday.

Referee panel confirms VAR call correct
Newcastle's goal against Arsenal sparked huge controversy
Newcastle's goal against Arsenal sparked huge controversy
The Premier League's Independent Key Match Incidents Panel has confirmed Stuart Attwell's decision to award Newcastle's goal against Arsenal last Saturday was in fact correct.

Despite the claims from Arteta to suggest otherwise, the panel deemed there wasn't enough evidence to suggest the ball went out of play before Willock retrieved it, nor could they prove that Gordon was offside. The most contentious decision was Joelinton's apparent push on Gabriel.

Joelinton had two hands on Gabriel's back, though some feel Arsenal's defender could have done more to prevent the goal and was not being impeded. Four members of the panel agreed with the latter argument - noting: "Although Joelinton does have his hands on Gabriel, there isn't enough to award a foul as Gabriel had made an action to play the ball before any contact."Martinelli sets Saka forfeit
Gabriel Martinelli linked up with Bukayo Saka for Arsenal's second

Gabriel Martinelli has called for his Arsenal team-mate Saka to buy him dinner after the Brazilian's beautiful assist for the second goal of the game against Sevilla.

"I told him (Saka) that he’s going to have to pay me for dinner!," Martinelli told Arsenal's website. "I’m so happy with the win and for his goal as well. It’s so good to play here at home with our supporters, and we just try to do our best on the pitch to show them our qualities and win for them."

The Gunners ace added: "I think we did well today, and we deserved the win, every game I want the ball as quickly as possible to have the advantage to go and take the full-back on one-on-one.

"This is what I like to do, and I think the team knows that. Me and B [Bukayo] are good at that, and today it’s what you want. If you go one, two or three times and you beat your opponent, you get more confidence and that’s what happened today."
