With just minutes remaining the 22-year-old went down after an awkward landing following a challenge for a header. After initial treatment from physios he tried to carry on before eventually having to be replaced by Jakub Kiwior a few minutes later.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Arteta revealed that he was hopeful of positive news on Saka's fitness. "It was just a kick and I was told by the physios on the radio he wasn't happy to continue," he said.
"So he will have some discomfort but hopefully I am going to assume he will be OK," Arteta added. It was another night where Saka was on the end of heavy treatment from the opposition defence after he was fouled four times inside the opening 14 minutes of the match - none of which resulted in a yellow card.
When asked about the physical approach from Sevilla, Arteta responded: "There's contact in football and obviously for the wingers who want to take people on this is going to happen. At the end he [Saka] wasn't comfortable to carry on, hopefully it's not too much but I'm really pleased with his performance."
It seems as though the Arsenal superstar is in good spirits following the win against Sevilla after he sent a message to supporters last night. In a post on Instagram, Saka wrote: "Great response from the weekend. One step closer!"
There was no mention of his injury concern suggesting he may not have suffered a serious problem and could be fit to face Burnley this weekend. Arteta will hope that is the case given Eddie Nketiah became the latest player to be sidelined with an injury as he was left out of the squad that beat Sevilla
