Guehi told he should follow Declan Rice pathway and complete Arsenal transfer

Mikel Arteta has been told the one Premier League player who should be pushing to sign for Arsenal in the upcoming transfer windows. The Gunners are expected to try and acquire a new midfielder in January with a number of issues plaguing Arteta and Edu in the middle of the park despite the £105million signing of Declan Rice in the summer.

Strengthening the spine of his squad is on the agenda for the Gunners with a number of central defenders and natural strikes targeted before the focus switched to signing a new central midfielder. Ruben Neves, Douglas Luiz, Gabriel Moscardo and Martin Zubimendi are just a few options linked to that position.

At the top end of the pitch, Ivan Toney, Benjamin Sesko and Victor Osimhen have all been named as targets. Meanwhile, in defence Gabriel Moscardo and Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi have been previously revealed as players with admirers in north London and former Arsenal man Mikael Silvestre is certainly one of those.

"I think Marc Guehi is doing really well at the moment and for sure, Arsenal should be, for him personally, an objective," he admitted when speaking to bettingexpert.com. "Champions League, title contenders. Could be Arsenal or could be other teams in the Premier League or abroad. He has definitely proven he's on the rise."

The 23-year-old has established himself as an impressive Premier League defender in recent years at Selhurst Park after leaving Chelsea in 2021.

A similar journey that Rice also embarked on after leaving the Blues as a young man before then becoming an extremely important member of a club often sitting in mid-table.With Rice joining from West Ham earlier this summer, Guehi completing the switch to Arsenal, where he would provide cover and push for the spot of William Saliba, could be his crowning moment. The Eagles have a number of high-value players on their books with Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze both opting to sign new contracts amid top six interest.

£50million has been mooted as the rough asking price for the England international in recent months but a regular spot in Gareth Southgate's starting XI ahead of the Euros could see those demands increase with his current deal not up until 2026.
