'He shouldn't have done that': Noel Gallagher says Mikel Arteta has made a huge mistake at Arsenal now

The Gunners haven’t had a great season with respect to performances, but they are still just a point off the top of the Premier League table. Arteta has made a few decisions that have come under criticism this season – none more than his call to drop Ramsdale for Raya.

Mikel Arteta has made a mistake with Aaron Ramsdale at Arsenal
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta surprised everybody when he decided to make a move for David Raya in the summer despite already having Aaron Ramsdale at his disposal.

Yes, Arsenal needed a new goalkeeper after Matt Turner left for Nottingham Forest, but having two shot-stoppers who are both capable of being the number one made no sense to many people.

Now, those concerns are proving to be true. Ramsdale’s dad has come out and had a go at Arteta for his treatment of his son, and many fans are also of the opinion that the Englishman is the better goalkeeper.

Noel Gallagher was on talkSPORT yesterday, and he too believes Arteta is at fault for the goalkeeping situation at Arsenal at the moment.

He said: “I think he’s [Arteta] made a rod for his own back with the goalkeepers, he shouldn’t have done that.

“The kid [Aaron Ramsdale] coming out and getting his dad speaking for him is absolutely insane.”

Arteta needs to fix this
Mikel Arteta must have known there would be an uproar following his decision to drop Aaron Ramsdale for David Raya.

The Arsenal boss wasn’t wrong to give Raya an opportunity after bringing him to the club, but after plenty of errors, people have the right to question the decision.

The simple thing to do now would be to bring Ramsdale straight back into the side. However, after his dad’s interview this week, things could get ugly.

It won’t surprise us at all if Ramsdale ends up leaving Arsenal in January.
