Overnight, Arsenal were given an encouraging sign that Gabriel Jesus has overcome his recent problems. The Brazilian had been suffering with a hamstring injury picked up against Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League.
The 26-year-old has missed the last five games due to the injury, but he's now expected to return to Arteta's side this weekend after playing 90 minutes for Brazil against Argentina. Jesus played the entirety of the 1-0 World Cup qualifier defeat and will now return to London Colney.
Fellow Brazilians Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhaes also came out of the South America derby unscathed. Both players came off before the 80th minute mark.
Captain Martin Odegaard is also in contention to be fit after suffering a concussion and a hip injury. football.london understands the playmaker is expected to return to the Gunners side at Brentford, and has returned to training.
"But we highlighted something happening there that we noticed in the last two weeks as well. We wanted to protect him today. It was the right call from the physios and the medical department and tomorrow we will assess him and understand what’s happening."
Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jorginho both picked up minor issues against the Clarets, though they have both been in action for their nations. Tomiyasu started, and played 76 minutes, in Japan's 5-0 away win over Syria while Jorginho started both of Italy's Euro 2024 qualifiers against North Macedonia and Ukraine.
Thomas Partey and Emile Smith Rowe are both also expected to miss out against Brentford, while Fabio Vieira (suspended) and David Raya (parent club) will also sit out. Finally, Jurrien Timber will still remain on the sidelines for an extended period after his brutal knee injury just 47 minutes into his Arsenal debut on the opening weekend of the season.
