West Ham will welcome the Gunners to the London Stadium, while Chelsea lock horns with Blackburn Rovers at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium as Burnley take a trip to Merseyside to play Everton at Goodison Park.
Elsewhere, Ipswich Town will host Fulham and Newcastle will try their luck against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Arsenal and Chelsea will be just as keen as each other to get their hands on some silverware this term, though unfortunately for different reasons.
Mikel Arteta will likely see the Carabao Cup as a catalyst in the Premier League title race, spurring his side on to snatch Manchester City's English top-flight crown. However, for Chelsea, a cup run will be crucial for confidence as Mauricio Pochettino looks to get his exciting project off the ground.
In a column for the EFL, Carragher backed West Ham to defeat Arsenal on penalties. The former Liverpool defender said: "This one’s a big one. It depends on what teams get put out because I’m not sure the changes West Ham will make with them being in the Europa League as well, so I’m going to go for West Ham on penalties. I think it’ll be a really tight game and Arsenal will make a few changes."
As for Chelsea, Carragher backed the Blues to storm past Blackburn. He said: "I hope Chelsea win this one. They look like they’re just getting it together now this season under the manager Poch and I think they’ll win that comfortably against Blackburn Rovers."
Carragher also tipped Liverpool to progress into the final eight – although only just! The 45-year-old said: "This one I have to get right! I’m going to go for Liverpool. I think it’ll be tight because I think Liverpool will make a lot of changes, but I think they’ll probably just have enough off the bench.
"With Manchester City already being out of this competition, I think it gives everyone a great opportunity to win a trophy. I think Jurgen Klopp will bring his big guns down to the game to be on the bench."On United, who face Newcastle on home soil, Carragher added: "I’m going to go for Manchester United. I know United have got a lot of injuries at the moment, but I think if they can get a few back for that, they’ve still got a deeper squad than Newcastle. I think both teams will make changes, but I think home advantage and I think Manchester United will just get through."
