Jurgen Klopp has already handed Mikel Arteta blueprint to fix Arsenal issue

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta could emulate a tactic utilised by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to fit all four of his best attackers into the same side. With first-choice frontman Gabriel Jesus injured, the Gunners have been deploying Leandro Trossard through the middle.

Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka have supported Trossard on the flanks, forming an exciting connection, reminiscent to the one we saw from the two widemen and Jesus last term. The Brazilian international is now slowly returning to full fitness, leaving Arteta with a difficult decision on what to do with Trossard.

But the Spaniard could adopt a similar approach to what we’ve occasionally seen from Reds head coach Klopp. The 56-year-old has at times used forward Diogo Jota in a slightly deeper role, effectively operating in a 4-2-3-1 with Jota as a number 10.

A recent interview between Trossard and the club’s official media team proves that this is a position that the Belgian is comfortable in too. Speaking about his favourite place to play, the former Brighton & Hove Albion playmaker said: “That’s a tough question.

"I don’t really mind playing all of those positions up top, to be fair. If it’s left winger, as a false nine, even as an attacking midfielder, I don’t really have a straight answer for that.

“[As a kid I played] as a number ten, like a proper attacking midfielder back in the old days, or as a striker as well.

“I always try to be in the box and in good positions to score goals and with the quality that we have, I know I have to be there, especially if I play on the left wing, I need to be there when, for example, Bukayo Saka is on the ball on the right side, so yeah I follow my instinct there, to be honest, to get in the right positions to score goals.”

The prospect of a front four of Trossard, Saka, Jesus and Martinelli is certainly an exciting prospect for Arsenal supporters. However, this would mean club captain Martin Odegaard would be forced to play a little deeper than he has been used to.The Norway international would need to sit alongside traditional number six Declan Rice at the centre of the park. But against deep blocks, this may be a system worth experimenting with.
