Just Now Arsenal star sends message to Mikel Arteta over his best position

Signed from Brighton back in January, Trossard has had a great impact at the Emirates, scoring seven goals and making 12 assists across 36 appearances.

Bought to provide cover and competition for wingers Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, the Belgian international is also capable of playing as a centre-forward and has done so on several occasions.

In Arsenal’s last few games, in the absence of injured strikers Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, Trossard is once again starting centrally, scoring in the victories over Sevilla and Burnley.

There has been debate over which position suits him best and whether the 28-year-old should be starting ahead of Jesus and Nketiah.

For now, Trossard is just happy to help out wherever, but states that his main aim is to find the back of the net as much as possible.

Asked about his most comfortable position, he told Arsenal.com: ‘That’s a tough question.

Trossard’s form has given Mikel Arteta a selection headache
‘I don’t really mind playing all of those positions up top, to be fair. If it’s left winger, as a false nine, even as an attacking midfielder, I don’t really have a straight answer for that.

‘[As a kid I played] as a number ten, like a proper attacking midfielder back in the old days, or as a striker as well.

‘I always try to be in the box and in good positions to score goals and with the quality that we have, I know I have to be there, especially if I play on the left wing.

‘I need to be there when, for example, Bukayo Saka is on the ball on the right side, so yeah I follow my instinct there, to be honest, to get in the right positions to score goals.

‘To be fair, when I started to play football, my grandad always told me, “you have to practice your left foot as well, it will help you so much when you become a professional footballer”.

‘When I started playing football, I always tried to use my left foot, even more than my right. I just back myself on either foot inside the box that I can score a goal.’

With Nketiah and Jesus set to be fully fit after the international break, it remains to be seen what Arteta will do when Arsenal travel to Brentford on 25th November.

The Gunners will have the chance to go top of the Premier League that weekend, with the club third in the table and just a point off leaders Manchester City.In the meantime, Trossard could feature for Belgian against Serbia and Azerbaijan in their final two Euro 2024 qualifiers, with his nation already qualified for the tournament.
