The Japanese defender's form has seen Bayern Munich become interested in signing him ahead of the January transfer window. Tomiyasu has made 16 appearances across all competitions for Arsenal so far, scoring one goal, helping keep seven clean sheets.
Bayern are after a new defender after a slow start to the season with reports stating they could make a move to sign the Japan international. However, Arteta has made it clear he has no interest in letting Tomiyasu leave the Emirates Stadium in the new year.
"I really want him to stay," the Arsenal boss told reporters ahead of the Premier League clash against Brentford. "I value the player a lot, I really like him.
"He’s loved and respected by everybody at the club. He’s getting a lot of minutes now.
"He’s getting to a level of availability that we need to make an impact on the team. He will continue to be with us."
Tomiyasu could be set to start against the Bees on Saturday afternoon with Ben White emerging as an injury concern ahead of the trip to the Gtech Community Stadium. football.london understands White has been suffering from a muscle injury after he was left out of the 3-1 win against Burnley prior to the international break.
Tomiyasu is about to enter the final 18 months of his contract, but Arsenal do hold onto the option of extending his deal by a further year. The Gunners are keen to open talks with the 25-year-old over a contract extension, football.london understands - which could end speculation of a potential exit from the club.
