Mikel Arteta’s men took the lead as Leandro Trossard scored from close range, only for Josh Brownhill to drag Burnley level.
Arsenal weren’t to be denied though as Saliba and Oleksandr Zinchenko pounced to secure a 3-1 victory.
Oleksandr Zinchenko hails Arsenal defender William Saliba
That is Saliba’s fourth goal in an Arsenal shirt and his first of this season, setting the Gunners on the path to victory.
Saliba took to Instagram on Saturday evening, sending a message to the Arsenal fanbase.
“A goal and 3 points, amazing Saturday. Enjoy your weekend Gooners!” said Saliba.
The Frenchman received messages from the likes of Reiss Nelson, Ian Wright, Reuell Walters and Trossard, all sending their support to the defender.
The strongest praise came from Zinchenko, who simply called Saliba ‘Rolls Royce’ after another outstanding display.
That’s a verdict many Arsenal fans will agree with as Saliba continues to go from strength to strength in North London.
Saliba becoming a world-class defender
Hailed as ‘unreal’ by Rio Ferdinand just days ago, Saliba appears to be on the path to becoming a truly world-class defender.
It’s easy to forget that Arsenal paid £27million to sign Saliba in 2019 but then sent him on loan to Saint-Etienne, Nice and Marseille.
Saliba’s first Premier League start came three years after his arrival and some wondered whether Arteta really fancied him.
Well, Saliba now seems to be one of the first names on the Arsenal team sheet and is getting better by the week.
Still only 22, the sky seems to be the limit for Saliba and he is a player Arsenal simply have to build around for years to come.
