Partey drops surprise Arsenal Team News hint on Arteta's starting XI vs West Ham

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey may have dropped a surprise hint on Mikel Arteta's starting line-up for tonight's Carabao Cup clash against West Ham United. Partey has been sidelined with a thigh injury for the north Londoners' last two matches, a 2-1 victory over Sevilla in the Champions League and a 5-0 thrashing of Sheffield United in the Premier League.

But the Ghana international has now posted a matchday graphic ahead of this evening's trip to the London Stadium, perhaps a hint that he could be a shock inclusion in the starting XI? Of course, this merely could just be someone running his account for him, posting regardless of injury or not.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta delivered an update on the Ghana international's rehabilitation process on Tuesday, predicting that the 30-year-would would still be on the sidelines for a while yet. "I think that he will be out for weeks, I don’t know how long but he’s got another appointment today and we will see more after that," the Spaniard said in the pre-match press conference.

"Yes he is a big concern because when Thomas is fit and available and he’s been part of the team we have seen what the results and the impact that he has on the team. "his season we have more protection, especially for that reason as well because we know in the past two seasons what has happened and the impact that it had on the team so we had to address that.

"And now it’s happened and it happened in football. I’m so sorry for him because I think he’s doing every single thing that he can do right to be there, he was gutted. We are all for him, he needs to lift himself up again with our support and go again because he is a player that is critical for us."

Luckily for Arsenal, they have plenty of depth in holding midfield, with the likes of Declan Rice, Jorginho and Mohammed Elneny all currently fully fit
