Report: Arsenal are now ready to make £13m bid for Champions League midfielder in January

Arsenal are ready to offer around £13 million as they look to win the race to sign Arthur Vermeeren ahead of the likes of Barcelona and Napoli.

That is according to a report from Tuttomercatoweb, which notes that Royal Antwerp want around £21.6 million for the 18-year-old who has been an ever-present this season.

Arthur Vermeeren certainly appears to be one of the most talented midfielders coming through in Europe right now. Reports from 90min previously claimed that the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City, Barcelona and Bayern Munich were all monitoring the teenager.

Tuttomercatoweb reports that Arsenal are ready to offer £13 million (€15 million) for Vermeeren. Meanwhile, Napoli and Barca are also interested.

It appears that Arsenal’s potential offer is going to fall well short of what Antwerp want for their incredibly talented midfielder.

But there may perhaps be scope for a compromise to be reached in the coming weeks.

Gunners right to look at further reinforcements
It would certainly be wise for Arsenal to look at strengthening their midfield options in January. Declan Rice has been unbelievable since his move. But Thomas Partey has struggled with injury.

It would be asking a lot to task with Vermeeren with making an impact with Arsenal going for the title again this season. But he appears to have an incredibly high ceiling.

Not only has he played in all five of Antwerp’s Champions League games this season, but he also captained the side in their defeat to Porto.

And he is now a Belgium international, so whoever secures his signature is looking set to land a very exciting prospect for the future.
