Report: Champions League club now want 'magnificent' £30m Arsenal player on permanent deal

Real Sociedad are reportedly considering signing Kieran Tierney on a permanent deal next summer, with the Arsenal defender currently out on loan with the La Liga side.

According to TeamTalk, the San Sebastian side, who are competing in this year’s UEFA Champions League, are eager to sign the 26-year-old fullback for good in 2024, with a £30m deal being considered.

Tierney joined Sociedad on loan this summer having fallen down the Arsenal pecking order, and although the left-back is out until the new year, Sociedad have been impressed with his performances.

Praised by former Celtic manager Neil Lennon as a ‘magnificent’ player, Tierney has made quite the impact in the Basque country this season, and a £30m sale could be a dream scenario for Arsenal.

The Gunners signed the defender in 2019 for a reported £25m, and making a profit on Tierney to a non-Premier League club is the stuff of dreams for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Indeed, whether or not Socidad will follow through with this reported figure is another story for another time, but for now, Arsenal will be hopeful that the La Liga side are now looking to sign Tierney for good.Arsenal selling Tierney to Sociedad is a win-win for everybody

Injuries aside, it’s clear that Tierney is enjoying life in Spain with Sociedad, and a permanent transfer next year will be a huge result for everyone.

With Arsenal in line to make some actual good money from a deal, the Gunners will be pleased to see the Basque giants take Tierney off their hands in 2024.

It’s clear that Arteta has a plan for Arsenal going into the future that doesn’t involve the defender, and a move to Sociedad could be excellent for Tierney’s career.

Moreover, the defender can form something of a legacy for himself in La Liga as one of the few Scottish players to play in the division, a factor that might excite Tierney.
