What Gabriel Jesus has now said about Kai Havertz at Arsenal

Gabriel Jesus has now been asked to summarise the best thing about his Arsenal teammate Kai Havertz since joining the club this year.

Jesus was speaking to the Premier League alongside a few other Arsenal players.

And the forward was asked to name the best thing about Kai Havertz.

Jesus simply replied saying: “The best thing about Kai Havertz is his toughness.”

Of course, it’s up to interpretation whether Jesus was referring to Havertz’s mental strength at Arsenal, or simply his play style.

Were it the former, then surely all Arsenal fans could empathise with the comment.

Since signing for Mikel Arteta for £65m this summer, Havertz has been scrutinised every step of the way.

In treatment rarely seen since the days of Mesut Ozil at Arsenal, Havertz can rarely escape the spotlight.

But given the 24-year-old has the staunch backing of his manager, Havertz has continued to start almost every game for Arsenal despite a difficult start.

And therefore it does seem pertinent that Jesus perhaps recognised that situation when praising the midfielder’s ‘toughness’.

Gabriel Jesus has now named the best thing about Kai Havertz at Arsenal
Perhaps Kai Havertz’s struggles this season have mainly stemmed from the positional change he’s enduring at the club.

Often deployed as striker for Chelsea, the German is now being pushed back into a midfield role.Havertz predominantly played as a second striker for Bayern Leverkusen, but his role as an eight for Arsenal is a lot different.

The switch is particularly interesting in the context of Arsenal often being linked with a striker.

And yet the solution to any perceived issue, could already be in Arteta’s squad.

Either way, when Jesus does return to full fitness, which now seems imminent, talk of Arsenal needing a striker should calm down.

Havertz has had a tough start to life at Arsenal, but he clearly has the undying backing of the manager and his teammates like Jesus.
