Wolves set Pedro Neto price tag as Arsenal eye Bukayo Saka competitor

Wolverhampton Wanderers will demand £60million for Arsenal target Pedro Neto, according to reports. It is no secret the Gunners have an eye on Neto, who is top of the Premier League’s assist charts this season. Reports had linked the winger with a summer move and re-emerged once the window slammed shut.

Mikel Arteta's comments earlier this year about needing "two quality players per position" caused a stir - namely in the goalkeeping department. Bringing David Raya in to replace Aaron Ramsdale has caused friction among supporters, some of whom believe the latter was unfairly dropped following his heroics last season.

With Arteta’s stance in mind, signing someone to compete with Bukayo Saka appears a natural avenue. Reiss Nelson is the only alternative on the right flank, with Gabriel Jesus deputising there on occasion.

Signing Neto would give Arsenal a more well-rounded frontline and more options to compete both domestically and in Europe. A hamstring injury has derailed the Portuguese star's campaign in recent weeks but Wolves boss Gary O’Neil revealed on Thursday he should return soon.

Should Arsenal wish to prise the player away, they will have to fork out a hefty fee. The 23-year-old is contracted until 2027 and is instrumental to Wolves' hopes, having joined the club from Braga four years ago.

TEAMtalk are reporting that Wolves want around £60million for Neto despite his well-documented injury problems. That would place him fourth on Arsenal’s all-time record signings, behind Kai Havertz (£65million), Nicolas Pepe (£72million) and former West Ham United man Declan Rice (£105million).
