Watkins has been in outstanding form for Villa, having scored 13 goals and assisted eight in all 23 games so far this season. Villa also defeated the league leaders 1-0 on Saturday to strengthen their position in third place.
Although Arsenal registered 12 shots in total and 62% possession, they struggled to really test Emiliano Martinez. The visitors had just five shots on target.
Gabriel Jesus led the line but has struggled in front of goal, having scored just two goals in the league so far this campaign. Seaman believes this is an issue that needs to be addressed with Arsenal having netted the fewest of the current top four teams.
Speaking in his Seaman Says podcast, the 60-year-old highlighted Watkins would be the perfect man in Arteta's bid to win the Premier League title. "[Watkins] is a good shout, he said.
"Yeah, because he’s a box striker. He doesn’t get too involved in the build-up play which I like. I sometimes see [Gabriel] Jesus too far out, and I’m like: ‘No, get back in the middle!’ It’s something everyone is talking about, getting a new striker would boost the team."
Watkins meanwhile, is committed to the job at Villa. He signed a new long-term contract with the club in October.
