Arteta and Edu have clear Arsenal transfer priorities after White contract offer

Arsenal have made it a clear priority to strive for improvement under Mikel Arteta, whether that's through transfers or managing the current squad at his disposal. In the past, the Gunners have seen important players reach the final year of their contract before leaving for pastures new.

However, there has been a clear change in approach to the way deals are managed, with key stars now tied down to better contracts as it suits them. In the past year alone, the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes have all put pen to paper to extend their stay at the club.

With contract management such an important aspect, another new deal look set to follow in the coming weeks and months ahead. football.london understands that Arsenal are hopeful of tying Ben White down to a new contract, having opened positive talks with the defender over an extension.

The signing of White was a big show of faith in Arteta at a time when he was under increasing pressure to improve performances for the club. Signing for roughly £50million from Brighton, the defender brought with him some composure on the ball as well as an ability to help out at the back at both centre-back and right-back.

In light of that news, there's still a few places that both Arteta and Edu can look at both internally and externally for the transfer window ahead. So with that said, here's a look at a few that may take priority for the Gunners following the contract talks with White.

Further contract extensions
There are other decisions to make when it comes to possible contract extensions elsewhere in the squad following a renewal for White. One of which is a fellow defender in Takehiro Tomiyasu, who has a deal until 2025 with a club option of an extra year on top of that.

Bayern Munich have been rumoured with a potential switch, though a recent report from the Athletic has claimed that talks have started over a new contract with the Gunners. Beyond that, there's then a decision to be made over Thomas Partey, with the midfielder approaching his final year at the club.

January transfer incomings
With a Premier League and Champions League push on the cards, Arsenal could look to bolster their squad over the January transfer window. A striker continues to be the main link as the likes of Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen have been rumoured with a switch to the club.
