Mikel Arteta's men had lost 1-0 away to Aston Villa earlier this month before securing an impressive 2-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion thanks to goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz. The Gunners then travelled to Anfield to take on title rivals Liverpool, with the two heavyweights playing out a 1-1 draw on the night.
That result leaves Arsenal one point clear of the Reds, who are above third-placed Aston Villa due to their superior goal difference. With it so tight at the top and still 20 games to play, Gunners attacker Saka has played down talk of the title at this stage of the season.
"I don’t think we can talk about the title yet. It is still too early for that kind of talk,” Saka told Sky Sports in the aftermath of the game against Liverpool.
"We got a point; we are still number one over Christmas, which is nice. But it is too early to talk about the championship.”
Summer signing Havertz was similarly modest when speaking about Arsenal's title hopes last month. Quizzed for his thoughts on the title race, the German international told Football Daily: "It’s really too early to say something about this.
"Anyone can beat anyone. We really don’t know what’s happening, maybe we will in a couple of months.
"Right now we are focusing on ourselves and trying to win as many games as possible."
