Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah have come under criticism this season for the lack of consistency in front of goal. Neville believes Arsenal need to sign a number one striker that will give them a clinical edge in attack.
"Arsenal's front three is an emerging front three that could be great," Neville said on his Sky Sports podcast. "They don't actually combine a lot together.
"I think that's a real problem. The best attacks involve their centre-forwards, the wide players play off them.
"In years gone by we've seen Salah, Firmino and Mane - they would link between the three of them. It's very difficult for defenders to deal with it when the front three attackers link together.
"Martinelli, Jesus and Saka, I don't see them three linking together a lot. Even when Saka is trying to cross it to the far post, you don't see Martinelli charging in at the back post.
"There's quite a lot to work on in the front three for both teams [Arsenal and Liverpool]. I've found myself talking at the end of a lot of Arsenal games this season now about whether Nketiah and Jesus are number one and two strikers for a Premier League title-winning side or if they're actually more two and three strikers and they need that number one
"I love Jesus, he's got a bit of Rooney in him, a bit of Tevez, but he hasn't got that instinct in front of goal. Sometimes he's everywhere you don't want him."
Carragher agreed, adding: "When you have someone like Jesus, you almost need a Mohamed Salah out wide. He's almost, a little bit but not exactly, like Firmino.
"When you look at Arsenal's front three, there's not a lot of goals there. They need someone to be a Mo Salah or Sadio Mane."
