Kai Havertz now shares what Mikel Arteta told his Arsenal players when drawing at half-time yesterday

Arsenal midfielder Kai Havertz enjoyed another superb afternoon for Mikel Arteta’s side against Brighton Hove Albion yesterday.

Havertz continued his excellent run and added another goal to his Arsenal tally, much to the delight of the on-watching supporters.

The Emirates erupted when Havertz put Arsenal 2-0 ahead, a mixture of relief towards the scoreline and then pure elation that one of their big summer signings was coming good.

However, it was a slightly nervous afternoon on occasion, and Havertz has now revealed what Arteta said to his Arsenal squad when still drawing with Brighton at half-time.

Some fans will have been nervous that the game was heading towards disappointment, but Arsenal refused to relent.

Speaking to the Arsenal website, Havertz said: “Yeah we always do some adjustments of course, but you know he said we have to keep on going, score a goal and get a good feeling out there.

“We started the second half very well, had a couple of chances, and sometimes set pieces they’re so important and we scored from a set piece and sometimes it opens the door in a game, it did and we are all very delighted.”

Although he’s not been too heavily mentioned in the aftermath of the game, it was another superb showing from Declan Rice.

The confidence the England midfielder allows the likes of Havertz and Martin Odegaard to press so high shouldn’t be understated.

If you froze the game at points yesterday, Rice was commanding an area of the pitch usually requiring two players.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that Rice has transformed Arsenal’s potential this season.

An as well as being delighted with Havertz against Brighton, Arteta will be so grateful to have Rice in this Arsenal squad.

Arsenal paid big money to get their man, but it was absolutely worth it.

And Arteta must be so satisfied that his summer signings are now playing such a big role.

Moreover, as the title race hots up, the Spaniard will surely be hoping that those players can be the difference makers.
