‘Like a bag of nerves’: Pundit says 25-year-old Arsenal player has looked so uneasy recently

Aaron Ramsdale hasn’t had many chances to impress at Arsenal since the arrival of David Raya, but, whenever he has played, he hasn’t covered himself in glory.

Indeed, Ramsdale has played a few times for Arsenal since being dropped for Raya, and he’s looked shakey every single time.

A couple of weeks ago against Brentford he made a mistake that almost cost Arsenal, while he was also poor against West Ham in the Carabao Cup.

Speaking on Off The Ball, John Giles has been discussing the goalkeeping situation at Arsenal, and he says that he’s noticed Ramsdale looking very nervous recently whenever he steps onto the pitch.

Ramsdale looks nervous
Giles shared his verdict on the 25-year-old.

“He did say it and I think he intended to do it and he brought him back for one of the games Ramsdale, but he was like a bag of nerves playing in that match, For a goalkeeper you have to pick who you think is the best goalkeeper because it’s the only position on the field that is different to everyone else,” Giles said.

“You have to pick the best one between the two. He hasn’t done it much, but he’s done it once or twice when Ramsdale comes in and he looks like a bag of nerves, but this other goalkeeper is starting to make a few mistakes now.”

Can’t blame him
Ramsdale has looked nervous whenever he’s played lately, but, in all honesty, can you really blame him?

The Arsenal goalkeeping situation has arguably been the media circus of the season, and everything the goalkeeper does is coming under increased scrutiny now.

Confidence is such a massive thing for a goalkeeper, particularly one as emotional as Ramsdale, and, sadly, he looks sapped of all of his self-belief at the moment.
