Goals from Tomas Soucek and Konstantinos Mavropanos were enough for a 2-0 win to prevent Arsenal from regaining top spot. But Arsenal had 77 touches in the West Ham box - more than any team failing to score in the Premier League since records began in 2008.
“It's one of those nights,” Odegaard said. “We had a lot of chances but in the box we were not good enough. We have to improve in front of the goal and it's down to the whole team to do that.”
For David Moyes the win ends an incredible run of 73 away games as a manager against Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool without a single victory.

“It was a brilliant defensive job in terms of structure and discipline from the players,” he said. “Arsenal used to make a living out of it even though people don’t like to talk about it.
“Everybody wants the goals but there is another part of football which is being hard to beat and I think we were brilliant at that tonight. We are not one of the top teams. We are trying to get up and grow the team.
”For West Ham to be in Europe is a great period.” This success arrived with some controversy as VAR was unable to get a clear view of whether the ball had gone out of play before Soucek’s opener so went with the on-field decision.

“The technology we have at the moment is not clear enough if the ball is out,” Arteta said. “But we dominated for 100 minutes.
“When we had big situations, we had players inside the box totally free. The players put an enormous effort in. It's a difficult dressing room right now but we have another game in 72 hours. This is football, we have to improve in certain areas.”
