The Egyptian winger has been involved in 51 per cent of the Reds' goals so far this season and proved his importance once again against Arsenal. Oleksandr Zinchenko came under criticism after he struggled to contain Salah's threat last night, but Arsenal still hold a one-point advantage over the Merseyside outfit heading into Christmas.
Ex-Arsenal striker Ian Wright later slammed Zinchenko's performance and role in Salah's equaliser at Anfield. Speaking on Premier League Productions, Wright said: "The thing is, firstly, you cannot give Trent Alexander-Arnold that much space.
"This is a danger man. Get in his face. Try and deny him (Salah) the ball in the first place, let them pass it to someone else. Once you get into this situation (Salah with the ball) he wants to come inside, and Zinchenko knows this, but not many people can stop him.
"You’ve got to do a lot more. You cannot let him get inside that easy. It’s margins. It’s the margins our manager always speaks about in terms of winning games.
"You cannot give Salah that time, you cannot give Trent that time. Someone should have been closer to Trent. Once that ball goes over to Salah, someone should have been across to make sure he cannot cut inside. That’s why we have drawn that game. We could not stop that happening."
With Liverpool still firmly in the title race despite dropping four points in their last two Premier League fixtures against Manchester United and Arsenal, Salah has urged his teammates to 'do better'. Salah posted on X (formerly Twitter): "We know we can’t keep dropping points like this and we will keep fighting to do better."
The Egyptian winger will be key to Liverpool this season as he enters the final 18 months of his current deal on Merseyside. Salah could leave the club next summer with interest from Saudi Arabia still looming, and it's clear he is aiming to help the Reds win the Premier League title ahead of Arsenal and Manchester City this season.
