Mikel Arteta’s team are going from strength to strength this season, and could return to the top of the Premier League if they beat West Ham United tomorrow.
That being said, the club still does have some important situations to clarify ahead of the January transfer window.
Although possibly tipped to start in Arsenal’s crucial tie tomorrow, Emile Smith Rowe is often linked with a January departure.
Moreover, Aaron Ramsdale has been linked with similar clubs since losing his number one spot under Arteta.
However, in a report shared by The Athletic today, it seems that interest in one of Arsenal’s crucial starters is simply not going away.
Saudi Pro League clubs are still said to hold long-term interest in Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes ahead of January, a departure that would prove very disruptive.
Fortunately for Arsenal fans, the information also stresses that it would take an ‘extraordinary’ bid for Arsenal to contemplate any departure.
And if you were guessing, that would probably be a fee beyond £100m, such is the Brazilian’s role in Arsenal’s title push.
Arsenal would demand extraordinary fee to sanction January departure for Gabriel Magalhaes
Of course, as mentioned above, it seems much more likely that Arsenal will make a January addition to their defence.
However, a loan move for a more available target seems most likely in January.
Although Arsenal do have well-vetted targets in mind, clubs are unlikely to sanction a departure for their best players in January.
Therefore, Arteta and Edu Gaspar will need to be clever with their business, they’ll need to get the balance right.
It would seem an opportunity missed if Arsenal didn’t strengthen at all in January, however, they are about to recover a few players too.
Takehiro Tomiyasu and Thomas Partey should be ready for key roles again after their respective international tournaments in January.
And given how well-crafted Arsenal’s squad currently is, they will need to ensure any arrivals don’t upset the balance.
