According to Miguel Delaney’s latest newsletter, the Gunners players have now noticed a positive change in how he performs in training.
Havertz has needed some time to get up to speed following his £65million move to Arsenal from Chelsea.
Last weekend, the Germany international finally scored his first goal from open play for the Gunners. He netted the winner against Brentford.
Havertz then made it two goals in consecutive appearances when he opened the scoring against Lens in the Champions League in midweek.
The 24-year-old was on hand to bundle home from close range – via the underside of Bryce Samba’s arm – following a Gabriel Jesus header into his path.
Havertz also played a part in Bukayo Saka’s third, was a thorn in the opposition’s side and, crucially, looked to be enjoying himself in red and white.
Arsenal ace Kai Havertz may have reached ‘the turning point he needed’
Delaney, writing in his weekly newsletter, says Arsenal now hope that his winner against the Bees was the start of something great.
‘Arsenal are hopeful that Kai Havertz’s goal against Brentford is the turning point he needed,’ wrote Delaney.
‘It wasn’t just the manner of it but the context and the pressure. These are the sort of big moments that can have significant effects.
‘The squad have noted a greater assurance in training, with more coming off. There was one touch that wowed teammates, which was then replicated in a fine run against Lens.Havertz has always had the technical ability, of course, and is capable of doing incredible things with a ball.
‘He’s also part of football mythology in that he’s scored the winning goal in a Champions League final, all of which form part of the reason Mikel Arteta signed him.
‘The Basque is confident that Havertz will just give the side that extra dimension, as well as more angles of attack.’
It’s great to see Havertz finally turn a corner after a tricky start to life at the Emirates. Some players hit the ground running, while others need a little more time to get up to speed.
The Germany international is a quality player and he’s certainly on the right track. It’ll be exciting to see how he continues to fare in red and white.
