‘Sensational': Micah Richards says midfielder Arsenal reportedly wanted to sign is going to be a ‘superstar’

Micah Richards has given his verdict on Warren Zaire-Emery, a player Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal reportedly wanted to sign.

The former Manchester City and Aston Villa star believes that Zaire-Emery is going to be a superstar.

So, what has Micah Richards said about Arsenal target Warren Zaire-Emery? Let’s take a look.

Praise for Arsenal-linked midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery
One of the players who was linked with Arsenal, who are in the Premier League title race this season, in recent transfer windows was Warren Zaire-Emery.

In January 2023, RMC Sport reported that Arsenal wanted to sign Zaire-Emery from Paris Saint-Germain. Nothing materialised in the end.

The 17-year-old midfielder is still at PSG, and former Manchester City and Aston Villa star Micah Richards has been hugely impressed with him.

Richards said about Zaire-Emery on The Rest is Football podcast: “With Zaire-Emery in midfield he is already sensational. He is going to be another superstar, if he is already not. We go on about him because Thierry Henry coached him at the 21’s, he got his full senior call up, Henry is hoping to have him at the Olympics as well next year.”

Praise to Arsenal scouting networking over Warren Zaire-Emery
I do not think that it was going to be easy for Arsenal to sign Warren Zaire-Emery from Paris Saint-Germain. It was always unlikely that the Gunners would get a deal done for the teenager, who has been likened to Luka Modric.

After all, Paris Saint-Germain are one of the biggest clubs in the world and are very wealthy. PSG are not going to let any of their young players go, especially someone like Zaire-Emery who has come through the academy.

Zaire-Emery is now part of the PSG first team. He is doing well under head coach Luis Enrique. The midfielder has made 10 starts and two substitute appearances in Ligue 1 this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the process.

The French youngster has also made five appearances in the UEFA Champions League for PSG this season. He has scored one goal and given three assists in those games. Zaire-Emery found the back of the net against Borussia Dortmund in midweek.

I believe that the Arsenal scouting network should be praised for identifying Zaire-Emery as a potential target. It shows just how good the scouts are to notice a player who is just a teenager.
