Takehiro Tomiyasu injury latest: Arsenal blow, Mikel Arteta update, Luton hope

Arsenal extended their winning run on Saturday afternoon, defeating Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 thanks to first-half goals from Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard. However, it wasn't all good news for the north London outfit, who lost defender Takehiro Tomiyasu to injury in the second-half.

Gunners supporters will be hoping that it was merely a precaution, with the Japanese international enjoying a stellar start to the campaign, displacing both Ben White and Oleksandr Zinchenko at times this season. The versatile fullback has registered three assists in his last two outings, showing an improved ability going forward, having always been superb on the defensive end.

With all of that being said, football.london has rounded up everything that has been reported on Tomiyasu's injury below.

Arteta update
After the full-time whistle, Arteta revealed that Tomiyasu had felt something before signalling to the bench that he needed to come off. When asked if it was a calf issue, the Spaniard replied: "I don’t know.

"He felt something. I don’t know if it was fatigue.

"We decided to change straight away and we didn’t want to take any risks. Let’s assess him and see how he is."

Initial incident
Tomiyasu was seen clutching his calf as he was replaced by White with just over ten minutes to play against Wolves. The former Bologna star had set up Saka's opener in the first half, enjoying an excellent performance at both ends of the pitch before picking up the issue.

The Gunners are back in action on Tuesday evening, when they take on Luton Town, and fans will be hoping that the 25-year-old is able to make a swift return to the side if possible.
