Just one point separates both Mikel Arteta and Jurgen Klopp's respective sides at present, with the onus on heading into the Christmas and new-year period on top of the table, which could be seen as an early marker of things to come in 2024.
Arsenal most recently saw off Brighton and Hove Albion 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium thanks to goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, with both players again proving pivotal parts of Arteta's hopes for success this season.
Midfielders Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are nearing their respective returns as we approach the busy part of the 2023/24 season, with both also expected to jet off to represent their nations at the upcoming African Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast.
As we reflect on another week gone by regarding all things the Gunners, here are just some of the things we spotted from the latest release of training images issued by the club...
Arteta enjoying the challenge
Smiling away at London Colney, boss Arteta is clearly happy to be part of the challenge that comes with managing the club on a day-to-day basis, as he is seen grinning away in the latest training snaps.
Having faced plenty of pressures during his four years as manager, his identity and professionalism continue to shine through given Arsenal's wonderful start in both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League too.
Fun but serious environment
Often lost in the seriousness of being the best is the enjoyment that comes with the hardship. That doesn't seem the case for Arteta's squad it must be said, with players including Declan Rice, Jesus and captain Martin Odeegard all beaming away.
Most know that creating an environment where people can be themselves and enjoy the process can only bring further success and it seems Arsenal are well on there way to helping that aim become a reality.
Rice on focus
Superb once more in his performance against the Seagulls last weekend, England international Rice is continuing to prove just why Arsenal parted with more than £100million for his services earlier this year.
The 24-year-old is already maturing into an integral part of Arteta's plans and if rumours are to be true, could we see another talent join him in the centre of the pitch come the end of the January window? Only time will tell...
