The Gunners need to strengthen their squad this month to have the best chance of winning the Premier League title. They have fallen behind Liverpool already, but many feel a new striker could change their fortunes. Leonardo, however, will not be the one.

Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal target Marcos Leonardo will join Benfica
Arsenal really could do with a new striker this month.
The Gunners’ top scorer in the Premier League is Bukayo Saka with just six goals in 19 games. That is not enough at all for a side aiming to win the title.
Arsenal have been linked with plenty of forwards over the last few weeks, and Edu is apparently a big fan of Marcos Leonardo, who plays for Santos.
Just yesterday, Tim Vickery said on Sky Sports that Arsenal are keeping an eye on Leonardo with the view of signing him this month.
However, there is some bad news for Gunners fans who hoped for this to happen. Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Leonardo is on the verge of joining Benfica today.
Romano tweeted: “Benfica are closing in on deal to sign Brazilian striker Marcos Leonardo from Santos.
“Benfica submitted formal bid in the last few hours, as revealed by new Santos president tonight. Deal being sealed on €18m deal — and structure of the add-ons will be the final step.”
In another tweet, Romano added: “More on Marcos Leonardo: he will be new Benfica player within the next 24 hours. Clubs checking on final details then… here we go, coming soon.”
Arsenal need to act fast
Arsenal seem to have missed out on the ‘very fast‘ Marcos Leonardo, but there are plenty of other strikers they can go after.
Ivan Toney has been heavily linked, as has Victor Osimhen. Bayern Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface, who is an Arsenal fan, is also said to be a target for Mikel Arteta.
Whoever Arsenal go after in this window, they will need to act fast to get their man before another club swoops in and lures him away.
It will be interesting to see what Arsenal will do in the next four weeks with respect to a new striker.
