The Spurs boss was speaking about the Brentford striker and alleged Gunners target ahead of the Lilywhites’ Premier League meeting with the Bees.
Toney has been heavily linked with Arsenal in recent months and, following his return to action, plenty of eyes will be on how he fares for the rest of the season.
For instance, journalist Ryan Taylor recently said: “Toney wants to join Arsenal and he would favour that move above anywhere else at this moment in time.”
However, Tottenham themselves have been linked with a potential move for the 27-year-old as well.
“In the background, Tottenham and even Manchester United are having a look just in case the situation could change in a way that suits them,” Dean Jones recently said.

While a move is unlikely in the latter stages of the transfer window, there could well be a saga involving Toney and a number of big clubs in the summer.

And Postecoglou is clearly a fan of the player, telling football.london: “I think he’s a fantastic player and you can see just how important he is to that Brentford team. He changes it almost overnight.
“They’ve obviously been going through a rough trot in terms of results in recent times, and they’ve obviously had their fair share of injuries.
“But as soon as he comes into that team he gives them a different look, both as a player but also the presence he had.”

Toney has outlined his desire to play for a top club in his career, and Arsenal can certainly give him title challenges and Champions League football at present.
At the same time, Spurs are on an upward trajectory under Postecoglou, and will fancy their chances in terms of qualifying for the Champions League next term.
There’s no doubt there will be speculation involving Toney in the latter days of the January transfer window and, should he stay at Brentford – which is likely – a transfer saga in the summer.
