The final day of the transfer window is upon us and there is work still to be done.
Arsenal have yet to make a signing this month and are running out of time to do so. Meanwhile, the Gunners have seen Marquinhos return from Nantes, Omar Rekik from Wigan, and recalled Mika Biereth from Motherwell before heading on loan to Sturm Graz in the Austrian Bundesliga.
Alex Kirk and Kido Taylor Hart both joined Bromley on loan this month but there has been little action around the first team. Something Mikel Arteta appears to have accepted.
"We have one of the thinnest squads in the League, that's for sure, and when you talk about the numbers, especially in certain areas, we are really thin," he said ahead of the club's win over Nottingham Forest.
"It wasn't possible [to do any January deals]. And now we didn't have the capacity to improve the team in the way that we think we want to improve it, so we decided not to do something yet."
The Gunners have been known to pounce at the final moment however, so a careful eye will remain on Hale End in the Emirates on the final day of the window. Mirror Football takes a look at deadline day deals that Arsenal have previously completed.
Jorginho
Just 12 months ago Arsenal were able to act on transfer deadline day to land Jorginho from Chelsea. The Italian midfielder has made 37 appearances in his first year with the club having arrived in a £12million deal.
Rumours of interest from Barcelona have already emerged with Jorginho's contract set to expire at the end of the season but the Gunners hold an option for a further year.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
There are unlikely to be many January deadline day signings that will be as big a deal, or reach the heights of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. While his Arsenal career ended in an unfortunate manner, Arsene Wenger's final signing was a significant one.
Joining for a club record £60m, Aubameyang proved his merit by bagging 92 goals in 163 appearances for the club. After being stripped of the captain's armband by Mikel Arteta, the striker was released from his contract by mutual consent before joining Barcelona in February 2022.
The 33-year-old netted 11 times in 17 appearances in La Liga to end that season before moving to Chelsea on deadline day in the summer of 2022. He was widely perceived as a signing for Thomas Tuchel, but the German coach was sacked less than 24 hours following Aubameyang's debut.
After a dismal year with Chelsea saw him miss out on the club's Champions League squad for the second half of the season, Aubameyang joined Marseille and has netted 14 times in 28 appearances for the French side this term.
Kim Kallstrom
An iconic figure in Arsenal folklore, the Sweden international arrived in January 2014 from Spartak Moscow. Kallstrom made just four appearances for the club having arrived with a serious back injury and made just one start.
The former Lyon star netted a penalty kick to help Arsenal win their FA Cup semi-final shootout against Wigan on their way to lifting the trophy. The midfielder did not make the squad for the final however.
Nacho Monreal
Another success for the Gunners, Monreal made 251 appearances for Arsenal after joining in an £8.5m deal in January 2013. The Spaniard won three FA Cup trophies during his time in north London and remained with the club until 2019 when he moved to Real Socied.
The defender missed the whole of the 2021/22 due to a knee injury that eventually saw him retire at the age of 36. In his announcement he thanked the Gunners for their role in his career.
Thomas Eisfeld
The German midfielder joined Arsenal aged just 19 for a nominal fee from Borussia Dortmund in 2012. A product of the Bundesliga side's academy, Wenger said Eisfeld had the 'attitude and technical ability to be a valuable addition to our squad'.
Auston Trusty
The final day of the 2022 window saw Trusty signed from Colorado Rapids but remain on loan with the MLS club until that July. That summer saw him quickly loaned to Birmingham City where he was voted the Blues' player of the season having played every minute of the club's Championship season.
A chance at Arsenal never arrived however with the American then moving to Sheffield United in 2023. The US international joined the Blades on a four-year deal and is believed to have earned the Gunners in the region of £5m.
Cedric Soares
The Portugal international looks like he could soon be departing Arsenal for pastures new but in 2020 joined the Gunners on loan from Southampton. Injuries to Calum Chambers and Hector Bellerin prompted the move with Cedric's Saints contract expiring in the summer.
The full-back made his stay with Arsenal permanent and has made 61 appearances for the north London side. Last January saw the defender joined Fulham on loan for six months, and now Cedric appears at the end of his Arsenal career having made just three appearances this term and his deal at an end in the summer.
Denis Suarez
Arsenal footed up a £2m loan fee to land the then Barcelona ace in 2019, as they completed a first deal of the window on its final day. Unai Emery's side were able to avoid seeing an obligation to sign the Spaniard in the deal and will be relieved to have done so after not exercising the option they did agree.
Suarez featured just six times for Arsenal and did not manage to record a goal or assist in his short spell with the Gunners. He moved to Celta Vigo that summer and made a century of appearances for the La Liga side before joining Espanyol on loan and then securing a return to Villarreal in June 2023.
