Arsenal consider move for 25 G+A attacker as transfer 'dilemma' update emerges - report

Arsenal have been considering the option of signing Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez in the January transfer window, according to a report from The Times.

Mikel Arteta is facing a transfer dilemma – whether to sign a frontman who could replace Gabriel Jesus or someone who can compete with the Brazil forward. The Gunners have been targeting several players, but keeping in mind the club’s finances, a signing is likely to happen next summer.

However, the situation could change if they can cash in on Eddie Nketiah.

Gary Jacob writes that – “Gimenez, the 22-year-old who has scored 43 goals for Feyenoord across all competitions since the start of last season, is another option Arsenal have been considering.”

The Gunners are also considering options like Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Napoli’s high-profile forward Victor Osimhen.

Options for Arteta
Gimenez has been in terrific form this season for the Dutch giants. He has scored 18 goals and provided four assists in the Eredivisie this season. He has also scored two goals and provided one assist in the Champions League this season, taking his tally to 25 goals and assists this season.

He would be a great signing for the north London club but it is doubtful whether Feyenoord would be willing to do business in the middle of the season.

Toney has been targeted by top clubs in the Premier League including Arsenal but it would take a fee in the region of £80m to lure him away. He is out of contract at the end of next season and has already changed agents, but it won’t be easy for the Gunners to sign him.

Another player who has been heavily linked with a move is Osimhen. He scored 31 goals in 39 appearances last season and has recently signed a new deal at the Italian club. He has a mixed relationship with Napoli and has a release clause over £100 million.
