Arsenal handed boost in pursuit of 14-goal Spanish striker

Arsenal have reportedly been linked with a move for in-form Getafe striker Borja Mayoral, although a deal may not materialise.
Arsenal have reportedly had an offer turned down for Borja Mayoral, and Spanish publication AS has claimed that the La Liga side will not sell the Spanish striker at any price this month. They are uninterested in sanctioning his departure.

Borja Mayoral Rising in Stature
The Spaniard has been in outstanding form this season, scoring 14 goals across all competitions, and he is a key player for Getafe. They do not want to weaken their squad in January. They will struggle to bring in a top-quality striker as his replacement this month. So, it is hardly a surprise that they do not want to sell the player.

Arsenal might have to wait until the summer transfer window to sign the striker. The Gunners are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements, and it will be interesting to see if they can sign a striker before the January window closes.

Gabriel Jesus has scored just three goals in the Premier League, and Arsenal need to improve on that if they want to keep their title hopes alive. They cannot hope to win the title against Liverpool and Manchester City without a reliable goalscorer at their disposal. Mayoral would have been a quality addition for them.

Arsenal Searching for a Striker
Arsenal have been linked with players like Ivan Toney as well. But he is likely to be an expensive acquisition. Brentford reportedly value him at around £100 million, and it is unlikely that Arsenal will be able to afford him in January without a big sale.

Recently we covered reports that the Getafe striker is valued at £39 million. That is certainly a more reasonable amount, and Arsenal have the financial strength to afford that. It will be interesting to see if Arsenal decide to test the Spanish club’s resolve with an offer in the coming days.

The Spaniard could be tempted to join a big club, and he will want to test himself in the Premier League. It would be a major step up in his career, and he would get to compete for major trophies with the move to the North London club.

A move to Arsenal would not only allow him to compete in the Premier League, he will also be able to showcase his qualities in the UEFA Champions League with them. The striker already has 14 goals this season, and his numbers could improve when he is playing alongside top class creators like Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka.

The fact that Getafe do not want to sell the player this month will certainly come as a devastating blow. But Arsenal should look to try and tempt them with a lucrative proposal before the window closes.
