Arsenal now reportedly want £50m attacker who has done exactly what Arsene Wenger asked of him

Arsenal have been linked with Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise in recent days.

The Gunners have been made aware of the release clause in the player’s new contract, according to TalkSPORT.

However, Arsenal are not the only club eyeing Olise. The report claimed that the Gunners would likely be up against Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Arsenal may well look to add to their their attacking ranks in the summer, in order to lessen the workload on the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Olise is a very exciting player, who has more than proven his credentials at Premier League level. With that in mind, he could be a good shout for the Gunners.

Arsenal target Michael Olise heeds Arsene Wenger advice
One interesting link between Arsenal and Olise comes in the shape of Gunners legend Arsene Wenger, who gave the Palace ace some advice back in 2022.

As per The Independent, the 22-year-old attended an event with Patrick Vieira – then Crystal Palace manager – and Wenger, at which the latter told him, in French: “(You) need to score more goals.”

In January last year, Vieira concurred with his former manager, saying: “Yeah, he needs to score more goals, he needs to make more assists.

“I will want him to be more involved in our open play, I will want him to be better defensively to work with the rest of the players around, to help the team out of possession.

“So there’s still a lot of elements that he needs to work on to improve himself, but the quality is there.

“I think his talent is there and then now, it’s just about how high he wants to go and that will be dictated by his commitment in everyday training – the sacrifice that he is prepared to make to fulfil that potential.”

Olise ended the 2022-23 campaign with two goals and an impressive 11 assists.

This season, the Frenchman was sidelined until November with a hamstring injury, but he has certainly done well on the goal front.

He has made nine Premier League outings this term and has netted five goals, plus one assist. Four of those goals – plus the assist – have come in his last four games alone.

Olise has certainly done what Wenger and Vieira have asked of him. If all goes well, Mikel Arteta could be the next Arsenal icon to be giving him coaching tips, as a player on the Gunners’ books.
