Arsenal transfer news: Gunners to confirm £27m deal 'soon' as French teen talks advance

Arsenal are already halfway through the January transfer window and are yet to make a serious move to cement their title ambitions.

The Gunners have seen Marquinhos return from his loan to Nantes but have offered little other movement heading into the business end of the season. There has been plenty of debate over the club's abilities up front so far this season with questions over whether the services of Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus are enough.

They will hope to prove themselves when Arsenal return to Premier League action against Crystal Palace this weekend with the north London side currently four matches without a win. Arsenal will need to balance their books if they are looking to bring in any new arrivals, while departures may be possible for the likes of Nketiah and Aaron Ramsdale.

Here are some of the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the club on Wednesday January 17.

Arsenal 'keen on Bahoya'
While Arsenal want to deliver success this season, they still have their eyes on talents for the future too. The Angers midfielder, 18, has scored five goals and provided two assists in 19 appearances in Ligue 2, predominantly making his impact from the bench.

L'Equipe, per Sport Witness, suggest that Arsenal and a club from Ligue 1 are interested in what develops for the teenager, while AC Milan have tracked the talent in addition to Bundesliga sides Eintracht Frankfurt and VfB Stuttgart.

A January move has not been ruled out with claims there have been ‘advances in the last few hours’ but no concrete offer has been made.

Raya transfer set to be made permanent
A move that may not have the glamour or excitement of many but David Raya's loan move from Brentford could soon turn permanent. The Spanish goalkeeper joined the Gunners in August on a season-long loan with an option to upgrade the move.

The 28-year-old shot-stopper could be Arsenal's first piece of major investment in 2024, with Fabrizio Romano suggesting the deal could be completed 'soon'.

The Italian transfer guru said: "It will be soon. From what I've heard, it's already agreed, so I don't know when they will make it official.

"It's something that they already agreed in the summer. The Raya deal was going to be permanent at the beginning, but they had to change the structure of the deal because of Financial Fair Play.

"Brentford decided to help Arsenal with that, but it is not going to change anything. The deal will be made permanent."

There is said to be a £27million option in the deal.

Soares on the move
The right-back is in the final six months of his contract and according to Portuguese outlet Record, contact has intensified over his possible next move. Besiktas have shown interest in the former Southampton ace who has made just two appearances this term.

Former Portugal boss Fernando Santos is in charge of the Turkish Super Lig club and is familiar with Cedric's abilities. The defender will be available for free in the summer but Arsenal may be interested in seeing his salary erased earlier should the right opportunity arrive.
