The Gunners’ same old issues reared their heads against the Reds at the weekend.
They weren’t clinical enough in front of goal and they were punished for it.
Kai Havertz led the line this time around, and it’s fair to say that he wasn’t good enough against Liverpool.
Speaking on BBC 606, Stephen Kelly shared his verdict on this game, and he says that Arsenal now must be desperate to sign Ivan Toney after yet another defeat where goals proved hard to come by.
Arsenal need Toney
Kelly shared his verdict on the £60m man.
“That’s the difference, Liverpool looked dangerous every single time they got the ball and looked like they wanted to get shots away, Arsenal, on the other hand, were hesitating and looking for the perfect goal passed in from two yards out, Toney would absolutely help this side out, but every game that goes, Brentford will add £10m to his pricetag knowing that Arsenal are desperate for him,” Kelly said.
Need a striker
Whether it’s Toney or it’s someone else, Arsenal’s need for a striker is more evident than ever.
The Gunners keep on missing chances and squandering opportunities, and as simple as it sounds, you won’t be winning games if you aren’t finding the net.
Arsenal have a real issue when it comes to scoring goals at the moment, and when you look at their squad, it’s hard to pick out a player who you fancy to find form in front of goal in the coming weeks.
Toney is a fantastic player, and he’s exactly the type of player that Arsenal need at this moment in time.
Whether or not Arsenal can get this deal done remains to be seen, but if they want to win the league, they need to press ahead on this front.
