Arsenal are keeping close tabs on Marcus Rashford’s situation at Man United ahead of a potential move in the summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Gunners had been interested in a move for the England international two years ago, with Football Insider revealing that they had set aside £45million to sign him in the summer of 2022.
It is believed they could reignite their interest in Rashford following fresh doubts over his future at Old Trafford.
However, Erik ten Hag’s side would demand a fee well above the £45million Arsenal would have paid in 2022.
The 26-year-old was reportedly fined two weeks’ wages after being pictured partying in Belfast before calling in sick for training at Carrington.
Rashford missed training and United’s FA Cup victory against Newport County on Sunday (28 January) but is set to be available for their game against Wolves on Thursday (1 February).
The club released a statement confirming that Rashford had “taken responsibility for his actions” and that the disciplinary matter is now closed.
It is believed that Mikel Arteta’s side are keen to buy a new striker amid Gabriel Jesus’ and Eddie Nketiah’s lack of potency in front of goal, but are now likely to wait until the summer.
Rashford has notched four goals and six assists across 26 outings this season and has played as a centre-forward, left-winger and right-winger.
Arsenal sit second in the Premier League table after their 2-1 win against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday evening (30 January), while United are 10th.
The Gunners are next in action at home against league leaders Liverpool on Sunday (4 February) and the Red Devils will face Wolves on Thursday night (1 February).
