'I love him': Alan Shearer says club's coaching staff are now comparing £63m Arsenal target to Thierry Henry

Arsenal have been linked with a move to sign Alexander Isak, and Alan Shearer has claimed that Newcastle United’s coaches are comparing him to Thierry Henry.

Newcastle‘s chief executive Darren Eales suggested recently that his side may have to sell one of their best players to fund moves for their key targets. Isak is their star man, and Shearer is a big fan of the Swede.

Newcastle United signed Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad for £63 million 18 months ago (Sky Sports).

The Swede became an instant fan favourite at St James’ Park. Everybody on Tyneside loves him, including Geordie legend Alan Shearer.

The Englishman, who knows a thing or two about scoring goals, caught up with Isak for an interview this week, and he seemed to have loved every minute of it.

He claimed he loves Isak before revealing that the coaching staff at Newcastle United believe he’s more like Arsenal legend Thierry Henry than his fellow countryman Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Shearer wrote in The Athletic: “I love Isak, not just because of who he plays for or the position he plays in, or his excellent record of 23 goals in 36 starts in all competitions, but because of how he does it.

“As a kid — he’s still only 24 — he was inevitably compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, another Swedish legend, but the comparison they make within Newcastle’s coaching staff is to Thierry Henry.

“You can see it in that blistering pace, the languid grace, that gorgeous, fluid movement.”

Arsenal have been linked with Isak
Football Transfers claimed earlier this month that Arsenal, who were keen to sign Alexander Isak before he joined Newcastle, are still big fans of the Swede.

The Gunners have had an awful time in front of goal. They’ve won just one of their last seven games in all competitions and it really does seem like their forwards have forgotten how to score.

Almost everyone is urging Arsenal to sign a new striker – either this month or in the summer – and if Isak is available, he would be a tremendous addition to this Gunners side.

It will be interesting to see how much Newcastle will demand for Isak if they are forced to sell him at some point this year.
