Injury boost confirmed, 3 big changes | Expected Arsenal line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Crystal Palace

Arsenal will be aiming to return to winning ways when they host Crystal Palace in today’s early Premier League kick-off at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners are currently on a three-match losing streak in all competitions. They have been guilty of missing several big chances in this period.

Mikel Arteta will be eyeing a strong response from his side after the much-needed winter break.

The club have the opportunity to close the gap to leaders Liverpool to two points with a victory in today’s London derby against Roy Hodgson’s side.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Predicted Line-up:

Aaron Ramsdale had a good outing against Liverpool in the FA Cup third round where he impressed with his long ball distribution in particular. However, he is expected to drop to the bench with David Raya being the undisputed choice in goal for the Premier League games.

The defence should remain unchanged from the 2-0 loss to the Reds. Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Jakub Kiwior are expected to form the backline. Oleksandr Zinchenko has not recovered yet from a calf injury and may not be risked for the derby.

In midfield, the Gunners don’t require two holding midfielders in Jorginho and Declan Rice against the low-block of the Eagles. Kai Havertz should drop into midfield to partner Rice today. Jorginho could be introduced off the bench if the Gunners are defending a slender lead.

Further forward, Martin Odegaard is an obvious starter from the number 10 position. The same can be said for Bukayo Saka on the right wing despite his poor shot conversion rate recently. He has 21 goal contributions this term despite his indifferent form in recent weeks.

Reiss Nelson had a lively start versus Liverpool and should have scored from a brilliant pass from Ramsdale. He definitely faded in the second half and we won’t be surprised if Gabriel Martinelli is reinstated on the left wing against the Eagles this afternoon.

Gabriel Jesus looks set to lead the line again after recovering from a minor knee injury which kept him out of the FA Cup third round tie. The Brazilian was guilty of missing two clear-cut chances in his last home game against West Ham United and needs to amends.
