The Gunners were top of the league on Christmas Day, and yet, here we are on New Year’s Day and Mikel Arteta’s side sit in fourth.
Arsenal have lost three of their last five league games, and it’s clear for all to see that something has to change.
Speaking on ESPN, Craig Burley has been discussing Arsenal’s problems, and he says that the way Kai Havertz is being used in the midfield isn’t working, claiming that the north London club won’t win the league if this continues.
Arsenal won’t win the league like this
Burley shared his verdict on Havertz and his current role.
“I absolutely reiterate my point about Havertz in the middle of the park. It’s not working as it should and it will not see them to a title. I think teams are starting to double up and snuff out the wide players, if you take Saka out of the game for long periods that’s a problem,” Burley said.
Where does he play?
The Havertz debate continues to divide almost everybody in football, but there’s one question that seemingly can’t be answered – where does he play?

On paper, he’s playing the same position Granit Xhaka used to occupy for Arsenal, but he’s not playing in the same way at all.
He’s stuck between being a central midfielder and an attacking player, and that, ultimately, leads to a lack of fluidity in terms of transitioning between defence and attack.
Havertz is a player who will always divide opinion, he’s an almost baffling footballer who is rated in certain circles for attributes that aren’t easy to spot.
Havertz needs to improve or the system needs to change if Arsenal are to win the Premier League title this season.
