Ivan Toney fires tweet at Premier League as Arsenal target's gambling ban ends

Brentford striker Ivan Toney took to social media to display his delight after his eight-month gambling fan has finally come to an end.

The 27-year-old has not played for the Bees since May 2023 after he was suspended by the Football Association for admitting to 232 breaches of their betting rules. With eight months having passed, the England star is available to return to football and he marked the joyous occasion with a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

On Wednesday (January 17), Toney posted a GIF of the comedian Dave Chappelle in the comedy film 'Half Baked' raising his arms in the air in triumph as the word 'free' popped up underneath him.

Brentford sit 16th in the table and are just three points ahead of Luton Town who are sat in the final relegation spot. Even during Toney's ban, rumours of his future were rampant with Arsenal reportedly hot on the heels of the striker who scored 20 league goals last season.

Despite the interest, the striker told ex-Brentford captain Pontus Jansson that he'll be staying at the club during a video call on Monday (January 15). While a move in the summer looks likely, fans can rest knowing their prized asset has pledged to remain with the club for the rest of the season which spells bad news for Mikel Arteta.
