After spending time at City during the period when Arteta was Guardiola’s assistant coach, the Ukrainian then followed the 41-year-old, who became Arsenal’s manager back in 2019, to the north London club in the 2022 summer transfer window.
With the 27-year-old now having the experience of playing under both managers, he has shared his thoughts on the former colleagues and how they do their jobs.

Speaking in a recent edition of the Handbrake Off – The Athletic’s Arsenal-themed podcast, Zinchenko had this to say when asked what the similarities and differences are between Guardiola and Arteta.
He said: “Both of them, they love to win. They are just going to give everything to win the game, it doesn’t matter which competition it is, friendly or whatever, both pay attention to the small details.

“Of course, Pep Guardiola has more experience, he’s worked with such big clubs in the past and when you have experience, you see the situations thousands of times and you know how to react to each one. I’m not saying Mikel doesn’t know, of course, he knows how to react to the situations, but it’s all about experience.
“I think that’s the main difference between them but I’m sure that Mikel is going to have his own legacy for sure and an amazing future.”
Since leaving his role at the Manchester club to take the reins at the Emirates Stadium, Arteta has overlooked 210 games in total across all competitions, winning 124, drawing 32 and losing 54.
Taking into account how Guardiola has 853 games under his belt as a manager, this highlights how much more experience he has at top-level management compared to Arteta.
Having also won a plethora of titles throughout his managerial career, this shows how familiar the 53-year-old is in terms of dealing with big games and high-pressure situations, as Zinchenko mentioned.
However, with Guardiola saying back in October that he learned a lot from Arteta during their successful time together at City, we feel that the Arsenal boss has what it takes to be a top manager in the future.
