Report: Arsenal will launch £43m bid to sign 'quality' striker this summer, the money has been set aside

It now seems as if Arsenal may have finally found the striker who can add the much needed goals to Mikel Arteta’s squad next summer.

A combination of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah simply hasn’t been cutting it for Arsenal this season.

Although the duo will perform well in 90% of games, their lack of ruthless goal scoring instinct always resurfaces.

It seems as if Arteta’s side are in something of a loop, putting their utmost faith in the pair and then deciding there’s something missing.

Whilst both are excellent players in their own right, it almost feels as if the pair are too similar, there’s no impact when one replaces another.

And with Jesus the stronger of the two, many feel that Nketiah will be sold in the summer in order for Arsenal to recruit a new striker.

That being said, Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport have now claimed that Joshua Zirkzee will be the striker intended to make a difference.

La Gazzetta stated today on page 17 of their printed edition that Arsenal will set aside €50m or £43m to sign Zirkzee in the summer.

The report also confirmed that both AC Milan and Manchester United are very interested in the 22-year-old.

Arsenal will chase a deal for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee in the summer
Zirkzee, who for a long time looked as if he would be Bayern Munich’s next star, is currently having a ‘quality’ season in the Serie A.

The Dutchman has scored seven goals in his 19 appearances and has shown a ton of authority in his performances.

Although, some Arsenal fans may be a little disappointed if Zirkzee is the striker the club chase in the summer.

That seems like a harsh statement, Zirkzee clearly has talent, but there is the feeling that Arsenal could aim higher.

Zirkzee is yet to prove he’s the elite goal-scorer that Arsenal fans are so deeply craving.

And the question has to be asked – is Zirkzee better than Nketiah?

Fans would probably much rather see their side bid for an Ivan Toney or a Victor Osimhen.
