Report: What Aaron Ramsdale told Kalvin Phillips about Arsenal's manager in private chat

Aaron Ramsdale reportedly told Kalvin Phillips how different it was working under a manager like Mikel Arteta after the goalkeeper’s move to Arsenal.

The Manchester City midfielder has struggled greatly under Pep Guardiola since moving from Leeds United to the Premier League giants in 2022, with Phillips now set to leave for West Ham on loan.

Having made just 16 Premier League appearances in the last two seasons, a lot has been made of Phillips’ time at City, with many saying that the move was a bad idea for the midfielder.

And according to the Daily Mail, Phillips confided with Ramsdale over how different working under Guardiola was to other managers, with the Arsenal keeper saying he experienced similar with Arteta.

The Emirates Stadium boss was an assistant to Guardiola for some years at City, with Arteta now becoming one of the most exciting young managers in world football at Arsenal.

Yet the Basque coach’s methods have been known to take some time, with Ramsdale’s comments to Phillips suggesting that high-quality managers like Arteta take some time to adapt to.

Arteta’s training ground methods and approach to coaching are well documented by now, with the former Arsenal captain transforming the north London club with his philosophy.

And whilst Ramsdale’s comments might indicate a player who has struggled to adapt to Arteta’s methods, we all know this is far from the truth.

Whilst the England international is currently out of the side, Ramsdale has been one of Arsenal’s best players in recent seasons and one of Arteta’s best signings.

And Arsenal fans should be excited that this is how Arteta conducts himself in training, with the Basque coach seemingly capable of getting players onboard with his ideas after some time.
