Takehiro Tomiyasu has been a fan favourite throughout his time at the Emirates. However, this window is going to be a difficult one for Mikel Arteta to negotiate.
The loan signing of David Raya in the summer hints that Arsenal may have to be clever in January to make any significant signings. And with that, serious bids for many of their players may perhaps have to be considered.

However, speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has insisted that there is no chance of Tomiyasu leaving Arsenal in this window. In fact, both sides are hopeful that he is about to extend his stay at the Emirates.
“Conversations between Arsenal and Tomiyasu are advancing to the final stages to sign a new contract very soon,” he said.
“So Tomiyasu is staying. He’s not going to Milan, to Roma, to Napoli, any rumours about a potential deal for Tomiyasu, no. Tomiyasu is part of Arsenal’s project. And the idea is to extend his contract, so proceeding in that way. For Tomiyasu and Arsenal, there is big optimism.”
An important piece of business for the Gunners
Tomiyasu is a fantastic player to have in the squad. He has struggled with injury during his time at Arsenal, having made 21 Premier League appearances in both of his two full seasons at the club.
However, he is someone who can play across the backline. And that is particularly important to have at a time when Jurrien Timber is working his way back from a long-term injury.
He is so valuable to have pushing everyone in the squad. And it seems that Tomiyasu is going to be sticking around for some time to come yet.
