West Ham and Arsenal are both expected to be busy in the January transfer window, with numerous new signings needed for both clubs.
Hammers boss David Moyes and Gunners manager Mikel Arteta are both on the hunt for a powerful central midfielder this winter.

Arteta is clearly keen to bolster his central midfield ranks at the Emirates this summer. It just annoys me so much that we didn’t push through the deal to sign him 18 months ago.
MORE WEST HAM STORIES
Onana would be a major upgrade on Tomas Soucek and his presence in the middle of the park would have taken us to a whole new level in my view.
Abdoulaye Doucoure once described his teammate as ‘unreal’ (Everton News) and he’s not wrong.
However, he won’t come cheap, with Nieuwsblad claiming that Everton are demanding £51 million for the 22-year-old.
In the long-term, that kind of fee will prove to be more than worth it for whichever club wins the race for Onana’s signature.
The Belgian midfielder would be absolutely perfect for the current West Ham team, and he’d complete our midfield three.
Unfortunately for us though, it seems as though Arsenal are going full steam ahead in the race for his signature in the January transfer window. And that’s obviously bad news for us.
The Gunners’ strong interest in signing the Everton midfielder proves just how talented he is. For West Ham now, it’s very much a case of what might have been.
