'You never know': Thomas Frank has just given a fresh update on Ivan Toney to Arsenal rumours

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has offered up a fresh update and insisted he is 99% sure Ivan Toney stays in January.

Toney is being linked with a big money move to Arsenal as the Gunners search for a top striker to get them over the line this season.

Toney is due back from his eight month ban and it will very much feel like a new signing for the Bees.

And speaking about Toney’s future at the club, Bees boss Frank insisted that while you never know in football, he is pretty sure his star man is going to stay.

“It’s been very clear that we don’t want to let him go and want to keep him as long as possible. It’s like signing a top Premier League striker…everyone should get excited. I’m 99 per cent certain he will stay but in football you never know,” Frank said

Thomas Frank update will annoy Arsenal fans
While realistic Arsenal fans will likely accept that a deal to bring Ivan Toney into the club is not viable, these words rom Frank will still sting a bit.

It very much seems like Toney is going to remain a Brentford player this month and with that, it means Arsenal either look elsewhere or bring nobody in.

That means the pressure is going to be on Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus to keep scoring the goals and at the moment, they’re showing they’re not up to that task.

Arsenal have got themselves into a bit of a bad position really here. Looking back at the summer, with £65m spent on Kai Havertz and £30m put aside for David Raya, it looks like they might have got it wrong.

Toney is the ideal signing but for whatever reason, the Gunners have priced themselves out of the running.
