'He's an extraordinary player': Pep Guardiola blown away by striker Arsenal reportedly want to sign next

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move to sign Ivan Toney in recent months, and Pep Guardiola has raved about him now.

The Gunners, like many other clubs, signed nobody in the January transfer window. FFP regulations made it impossible for them, but they are expected to go big on a striker in the summer. Toney will likely be a key target for Arsenal then.

Pep Guardiola praises Arsenal target Ivan Toney
Ivan Toney returned from his ban from football last month, and he has been excellent for Brentford in the Premier League since.

The Englishman scored on his first game back against Nottingham Forest and found the net again in the following fixture against Tottenham Hotspur.

Toney would love nothing more than to score three in a row, but his side’s next opponents are the best team in the world, Manchester City.

That’s not to say Toney can’t score against the Cityzens – he definitely can – and Pep Guardiola is well aware of how incredible the striker is.

Speaking in his press conference today, as relayed on HaytersTV, Guardiola said about Toney: “He’s an exceptional player, not just with long balls, (but) with keeping (the ball) and the set pieces, with the penalties he’s a guarantee, with the free kicks and many things… they can link with him.

“He’s an extraordinary player. I’m happy he is back and hopefully, that period is forgotten in him, in his life, and his family, and exceptional players always are more than welcome in the Premier League.”

Arsenal should sign Toney if they can’t get Victor Osimhen
Ivan Toney has been linked with a move to Arsenal for months now.

If it wasn’t for FFP, we truly believe the Gunners would’ve tried to sign the Brentford striker last month, and we won’t be surprised at all if they go after him in the summer.
The priority target for Arsenal, however, should be Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian is arguably better than Toney and is among the best strikers in world football.

Osimhen should be number one on Mikel Arteta‘s wish list, but if Arsenal can’t get him, Toney should be the man they sign.
